Teaching Philosophy
- I believe every person has the ability to learn mathematics and is entitled to a method of instruction that will facilitate success.
- I believe the best method to facilitate success is individualized, self-paced mathematics instruction incorporating study skills, math anxiety reduction techniques, and cooperative learning situations.
- I believe learning styles play a critical role in successful mathematics learning. To this end, instruction is facilitated through the use of visual, auditory, and tactile-kinesthetic instruments.
- I believe the classroom environment can act as a catalyst to self-motivate the student. To this end, the classroom is a comfortable, inviting atmosphere where collaborative learning is encouraged. The use of technology, i.e., calculators and computer, is highlighted not only to facilitate learning, but also to prepare the student for real life situations.
